Youth Spiritual Life

Adolescence can be one of the best time of your life or one of the worst.   Many times both of these occur simultaneously. But no matter what experience you had as a teenager, we were all searching for similar things; hope, purpose, and identity.  At Atonement, we want to be a community that offers a safe place with lasting relationships where teenagers can ask questions and discover answers. We hope to raise up a new generation in the journey through youth discipleship that will find hope in Christ, purpose in their creator, and identity in the God who formed them.

Recent studies have shown that many teens who grow up in a church or find themselves part of youth ministry in middle school or high school, abandon their faith in college with many never returning.   While this should be alarming, what’s interesting is those factors that helped to ensure a lifelong faith. Three of the top factors were: the influence/model of parents, relationships with significant adults (other than mom or dad) and a safe place where they can ask questions .   Our desire is to walk alongside parents in shaping their teenager, provide caring adults to model/mentor them and create environments where students can explore a faith in Jesus Christ.

We are constantly looking for adults of all ages who desire to walk alongside youth in their faith journey. Don’t worry you do not need any special skills, theological training or be able to speak the language. We’re looking for people with a heart for the next generation and a growing relationship with Jesus.
