families serving in worship!

We’d like to try something new…rather than having 4th – 8th grade kids serve in the acolyte and crucifer roles, we’d like parents and kids to serve together.  Each Sunday there are many people who come together to help our church family worship.

We have readers, communion assistants, ushers, and people who light candles. We think it might be even more meaningful if parents, grands and kids serve together. Kids of all ages can serve alongside parents.  For example, if a child would like to read the first reading, a parent or sibling can read the  second.  If a child is nervous about standing alone at the podium, parents can stand with them.  If a parent would like to light the candles before worship, a child can extinguish them. Kids can usher with parents. Families can greet together! The only thing we ask is kids to wait to serve Holy Communion until they have participated in 1st Communion classes but they can hold baskets for the empty cups.

We’d like to begin September 12th, which is also our first day back to Sunday school.  If your family would like to serve, sign up here!  Of course we’ll provide instructions!
