We are called to be disciples of Christ. A disciple is a worshiper, a servant, and a witness.
One of the ways Atonement Lutheran Church welcomes you and helps you grow into committed discipleship is by offering regular adult education opportunities. We do this because we love the Word and want to grow spiritually. These classes are focused teaching times in which we dwell in the Word and explore the tension between law and gospel. This is a safe place to have open discussions and ask the questions that may have been nagging at you. What are spiritual gifts? Why do we still follow some Old Testament laws and not others? What did Jesus mean when he said…? What does the Bible say about justice, immigration and economic policy? Here, you can get a different perspective on the Bible and faith, by gaining insight from different people with different backgrounds.
These sessions are also a great opportunity to develop a true sense of belonging in a small group setting. Before long, you’ll get to know others personally and start recognizing familiar faces. You will gain a better understanding of your community and the opportunities you have to live out your calling by serving your neighbor – “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you” (John 20:21). Here you will develop long-lasting, meaningful relationships and find people who will pray for your needs and concerns. You will gain the support, encouragement, and guidance needed to help you through the tough times, and you will be surrounded by people who will help you celebrate the joys in your life.
