Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z: “Head + Heart” – Atonement Chapel
Pastor Zac and Jacob James invite you on Sunday mornings for “Head + Heart.” Jacob and Pastor Zac will alternate leading the class each week; Jacob’s lessons stretch our brains as we grapple with what Scripture means, while Pastor Zac’s lessons bind our hearts as we discover together how Scripture inspires us.
Faith & Life Class – Charter Hall
Offering opportunities for Bible study, as well as conversations on a variety of topics.
January 19th: To those of us attending one of Pastor Zac’s Wednesday Bible studies, our Jewish friend, Barry Speert, is a familiar face. He will share with us “Jewish Views on Jesus, Biblical Literalism, and Hebrew Biblical Prophecy.”
January 26th-February 9th – Forum on Homelessness. Homelessness in Johnson County is on the rise. “From Johnson County’s Point-In-Time (PIT) of homelessness, they found an increase in overall numbers for the second straight year. The number of unsheltered individuals remained essentially the same, but the number of households in emergency shelters doubled. Understanding who is experiencing homelessness and their permanent housing needs is critical in Johnson County’s work to end homelessness in 2019 and beyond.” (https://ucsjoco.org/)
For three weeks beginning January 26th, our Adult Forum will focus on the issue of homelessness in our neighborhoods.
- On January 26th, we will welcome Valorie Carson from the United Community Services of Johnson County. This organization has done significant work in identifying and publicizing the issue and will be able to provide us with an overview of homelessness in Johnson County. (https://ucsjoco.org/)
- On February 2nd, a representatve from the Johnson County Interfaith Hospitality Network will share the work that IHN is doing to help Johnson County residents move out of homelessness through their network of congregations who provide weekly shelter and support services. (https://jocoihn.org/)
- On February 9th, we welcome Tom Lally, the Executive Director of Hillcrest Transitional Housing, who will share the work they have done in the metro KC area, and their move into Johnson County to begin ministry here. (https://www.hillcresttransitionalhousing.org/
