Confirmation Ministry At Atonement
Confirmation is a crucial part of youth ministry here at Atonement. Throughout our two-year Confirmation program, students study Biblical stories and Luther’s Small Catechism to get a better understanding of their relationship with God. Our students are in small groups with adult leaders who pour into them and walk with them in their faith journeys as well. Throughout the two years, our students build on their foundational knowledge of faith and build on this when they move to high school

Confirmation Class

Confirmation class meets in the Gathering Place on Sunday mornings, September-May from 9:45-10:45am. Our students are in small groups with two adult leaders. In these groups, we engage in large-group and small-group conversations about the topic of the day. We learn from Scripture, the Catechism, and one another.  Contact Eric for questions.

Middle School Hang Nights

Middle schoolers come together on Wednesday nights beginning again on January 8th, from 7:00-8:30pm, for worship, games, and a time of fellowship. We meet in the Youth Room. For details, contact Eric.

Crucifers for Worship
Worship is important for all God’s children and all should be involved in some way.   At Atonement we want to be intentional about offering a place specifically for 7th-8th graders to lead our worship as crucifers, typically September through May. Crucifers are involved throughout the service – carrying in the Cross, receiving the offering, and assisting with communion. Training is offered annually; individual training can also be provided by contacting Boo. For questions or more information about scheduling, contact Shana. You can also sign up here.

Confirmation Camp  from Eric Foerster, Youth Director

I’ve been talking with the other youth directors in Collective extensively the past few weeks about camp and what it would look like this summer. I wanted to let you all know that as Collective, we have decided that we will not be attending Rainbow Trail this summer. We don’t feel comfortable with sending a group of young people to a place where large amounts of people will be at this time.

What this means for you all is that I need you to go unregister your young person for camp. We are currently talking with Dave, Rainbow Trail’s Director, about refunds and what that might look like so unfortunately, I can’t give you a whole lot of details on refunds right now. I’ll give some updates on that as soon as I can.

I do want to let you all know that even though we will not be attending Rainbow Trail, we are working on still doing some form of confirmation camp this summer once it’s safe for us to all meet again.

If you have any questions on any of this please let reach out to me. My phone number is 913-653-7699 or email Eric Foerster for more.

Youth Bells – 2nd Grade through High School
Rehearsals are held in the balcony of the sanctuary on Sundays from 12:30-1:30 pm. Students will learn the basics of reading music, and ringing handbells and chimes to support worship. They will play once a month for worship as well as for the 5:00pm service on Christmas Eve. They are included in the Spring Youth Music Mission Trip, and may participate in the all-day “Ring in the Spring” event the first Saturday of March. Please contact Julie Assel with any questions.

YES WAY! Youth Mission Events

For those not familiar with YES WAY!, it was formed a number of years ago for 4th-6th graders to perform mission work during the year. WHY? Kids are creatures of habit. If we can involve them in volunteering consistently as a youth, they will do so the rest of their lives. We’ve expanded the ministry to include 3rd-8th grade students. Questions, please contact Dawn Greer.   Watch the bulletin insert and the eNews for details.
