While Pastor Zac is away on sabbatical, we shouldn't disturb him as he takes this time of spiritual renewal. He will occasionally send us virtual "postcards" of his walk on the Katy Trail so we can be there in spirit. Please keep PZ in your prayers while he undertakes this rewarding challenge.

Starting my trek across the Katy Trail today. 225 miles over 11 days. If the Lord speaks to me through a burning bush, I will relay the message!

I made some friends on the trail today and they invited me to a pool party. Too bad I forgot to pack my swimsuit!

Is Vinny Pasquantino playing tonight for the Royals? I think I saw him camping in mid-Missouri.

I crossed I-70 today near Boonville, MO. I tried to hitch a ride to St. Louis but no one would pick me up. Guess I have to keep walking 🙂.

The answer to one of life’s deep questions was revealed to me today. It appears, in fact, that the chicken does just want to get to the other side.

Today was scenic hiking between the bluffs of Rocheport, MO and the Missouri River. Do you know which way the Missouri flows? Mostly to the east, the direction I’m walking. It reminded me: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

I’ve made it past the halfway mark! About 110 miles left. Time to do laundry. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).

Outside of Portland, MO, I found my friend Peter today. Okay, Peter as in “petros,” the Greek word for rock. This is “Standing Rock” on the Katy Trail. Reminds me of Jesus’ words: “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18).

Took a slight detour from the trail to visit Washington, MO today. I took a picture of the hospital. Why? Because all three Sturm boys were born there. I love fatherhood so much, you could say a big part of me was born there too.

PZ’s Final Postcard! After 11 days and 225 miles I finally made it to St Charles, MO. So many blessings along the way and so many stories to share. Now it’s time to meet my family and head to Busch Stadium. See you in August, Atonement Family!
